Description Vineyard & Wine Data

Atwater Estate Vineyard's 2007 Pinot Noir certainly lives up to the grape's exceptional heritage. The 2007 harvest is a combination of grapes from Hazlitt's Sawmill Creek Vineyards, Leidenfrost Vineyard and Harvest Ridge Vineyard.  All of these vineyards lie on the sunny eastern shore of Seneca Lake not far from our own. This wine's velvety cherry and sandlewood mouthfeel and glorious ruby hue pair so perfectly with the bounty of fall.  Pinot can be savored on its own, but is superb with game and meat, and is the best red wine to drink with seafood.

Born in the Burgundy region of France, Pinot Noir is most elusive, causing more grief to growers and winemakers than any other grape.  Because of its infamous reputation, growers everywhere try to emulate the charm of this great red grape.  Pinot Noir is frustratingly fickle about climate, soils, handling after harvest and in how the wine is made.  But when everything goes right, Pinot Noir produces a wine that has the most seductive of perfumes and silkiest of textures.  Pinot Noir generally produces light to medium-colored red wines with relatively low tannin and acidity.  One of the most distinguished grapes, Pinot Noir is responsible for many great Burgundies and Champagnes.
